Carolee Schneemann: Eye Body.

Carolee Schneemann, Eye Body: 36 Transformative Actions, 1963. Paint, glue, fur, feathers, garden snakes, glass, plastic with the studio installation “Big Boards.” Photography by Erró

Carolee Schneemann, multidisciplinary artist, transformed the definition of art, especially discourse on the body, sexuality, and gender. The history of her work is characterized by research into archaic visual traditions, pleasure wrested from suppressive taboos, the body of the artist in dynamic relationship with the social body.
Her painting, photography, performance art and installation works have shown at Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; Museum of Modern Art, NYC; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and most recently in a retrospective at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York entitled “Up To And Including Her Limits”

Schneemann states about Eye Body... I wanted my actual body to be combined with the work as an integral material-- a further dimension of the construction... I am both image-maker and image. The body may remain erotic, sexual, desired, desiring, but it is as well votive: marked, written over in a text of stroke and gesture discovered by my creative female will.

‘What does life mean in the face of the knowledge that you will die?’

Irina Ionesco

Where does one draw the line between child pornography and art?
Pictured above are beautiful, beautiful photos of Eva Ionesco at age 11, taken by Irina Ionesco who happens to be one of the photographers I look up to.
At the tender age of 5, Eva was her mother’s favorite model. She is the youngest model ever to appear in a Playboy nude pictorial, since she was featured at age 11 in the October 1976 issue of the Italian edition of the magazine in a set by Bourboulon. Irina’s erotic photographs of her daughter have been a source of controversy since they first appeared in the 1970s. A selection of which were featured in the November 1978 issue of the Spanish edition of Penthouse.

"Here lies
Pierre MOLINIER
Born on 13 April 1900 died around 1950
He was a man without morals
He was proud of it and gloried in it
No need to pray for him."

«Всю жизнь меня очаровывал секс. Это просто удивительно количество существующих методов, способных привести человека на вершину оргазма. Вот этот момент и является ключевым, истинным, самым будоражущим, поскольку человек никогда не перестанет стремиться на эту вершину, чего бы это ему не стоило.
Он сметет все границы, выйдет за любые рамки, пересечет барьеры и в этот момент истины как нельзя точно проявляется природа человека…» Лоран Бенаим
